Choosing the best option for what you need
Over the past few years, technology has changed to the extent that we can hardly remember what it was like before. Can you cast your mind back to ten-fifteen years ago, when we didn’t use the internet? We did our grocery shopping by popping in to the store, sometimes spending hours browsing and choosing what we wanted.
If we wanted to contact someone, we had to either call them on the phone or write them a letter. When the internet happened, everything changed. We can now buy books online and have them delivered by the next day, do our grocery shopping and have someone select everything for you, and even read product reviews and make a selection based on other people’s experience. All in all, the internet has completely transformed our lives, giving us time and space to make informed decisions, without the hassle we used to have to go through.
Technology has evolved so quickly, in such a short space of time. We have moved from wired to wireless internet, meaning we can log on through our cell phones or sit in the garden to do our office jobs. Data storage is no exception. A few years ago we needed to have external hard drives or at least a pile of CDs to keep our information safe and close by. Nowadays, we have the option to store all of our information remotely, and access it with just a few clicks of a mouse.
The only downside to having such easy lives is that we forget to take time out to look after ourselves! With so much time spent online, living in the ‘virtual’ world, we need to remember to get out there and catch some fresh air and look after ourselves!
My personal experience of accessing data
As a small business owner, I have as little time and as many needs as any other person. I understand that life is not about working constantly, being stressed out and waiting for retirement. My ideal is to have enough time to focus on the things that make me happy, without feeling as if I am compromising on my work or home life. I like to travel, have fun, socialize and switch off at the end of a long day at work.
It’s the little things in life that can make a big difference. For me, having all my information housed safely and easily accessible just seems like one more step in the right direction. I have more time to spend doing the things that I love, without compromising on doing a great job at work.
Technology is constantly evolving, and every software and solutions provider is looking for ways to make our lives easier, every day. I can’t imagine what life will be like ten years from now, but I am glad that we have the opportunity at the moment to keep our information safe, and our data secure.
