Microsoft Office is often considered to be the premiere office productivity suite but many people will never need nor use all the functionality that comes with it. As an alternative, Apple offers the iWork office suite that may be a better fit for Mac users. At a lower price point than Microsoft Office, it’s certainly worth considering.
Let’s talk about the latest version of the iWork, the iWork’09 and the iWork’09 Family Pack.
What Can iWork’09 Do?
The iWork’09 is an easy and enjoyable way for Mac users to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations with applications like Pages’09, Numbers’09 and Keynote’09.
Pages’09: This application serves as both a word processor and page layout creator. Streamlined and easy to use with an enhanced Template Chooser, you can select from over 180 Apple designed templates. Pages’09 gives you the ability to easily create all sorts of professional looking documents like reports, letters, resumes, brochures, newsletters and more. You can organize your ideas with dynamic outlines and even customize your documents with mail merge.
Numbers’09: With over 30 Apple designed templates to choose from you can easily create spreadsheets for any task you need at home, school or the office. There is no need to figure out table or formulas because they are already done. Even fonts are taken care of. If you prefer to start from scratch, you can easily move charts, text and graphs anyplace on the page and create formulas with over 250 functions to choose from. If you want to spice up your spreadsheets, you can even add photos, movies and music.
Keynote’09: There is no need to stress out when creating a presentation with Keynote’09. A collection of 44 Apple designed themes makes it a breeze to pick the right layout for your presentation. From there, you simply add your own text and images. Add tables, graphs, slides, videos and even cinematic animations and 3D charts to make your finished work look like it was done by a professional studio.
iWork is also compatible with Microsoft Office so it is very easy to share work with anyone on a Mac or PC.
With the iWork’09 family pack you can install iWork’09 on up to 5 Mac computers in a household. The family pack is only about $20 more than the single iWork package so if you have a lot of computer users in your house this great deal.
